Our process for scheduling mediation is as follows:
1. Complete the mediation request form.
This provides us with case details and contact information for all parties, as well as a sense of scheduling parameters.
2. Schedule a date for mediation.
Parties are asked to confer on dates that work for both sides and report back to SMU. Appointments are offered Monday through Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.; family cases begin at 9:00 to give parties a full day to work through all issues. Call 972.473.3486 for available appointment times.
3. Mediation is officially reserved via letter.
SMU will notify all parties by mail of the appointment date and time. This letter includes an invoice for the $100 per party fee.
4. Payment of $100 Per Party Fee.
All parties are responsible for paying $100 each. The fees are due two weeks prior to the mediation date. Fees may be paid by cash, credit card, check or money order. If all fees are not submitted to SMU by the stated deadline, the mediation will not be confirmed.
5. Mediation is confirmed.
Once all parties have submitted their $100 fee to SMU, due no later than two weeks prior to the mediation date, the session will be confirmed by mail.
