The Sweet Run for Diabetes 5K is an event that is organized by the Diabetes Division of the Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-health honor society at the University of Florida.  The purpose of this division, for this Fall 2009 semester, is to raise money for the Florida Camp for Children and Youth with Diabetes (FCCYD).  Our major event will be this 5K run, which is open to the public.

FCCYD is a camp where children of all ages can attend in order to learn to live with diabetes.  They learn how to inject themselves with insulin, know what to eat and their limits, and realize that they are not the only people who are living with diabetes.  The camp gives them the opportunity to maintain a normal life so that they are not hindered by a disease.  There are many families who cannot afford to send their children to this camp, however. That is why we are raising money to help these families pay for the camp's expenses.
