Welcome to the Eighth Edition of the Gainesville/Hall Dragonboat Challenge, featuring 10 Paddler boats! Along with your Drummer, it is easy to get 11 close coworkers and/or close friends/family together and form a team!

Entry Fee is only $400 per team...and then your Team sets forth to raise an additional $400 (or more) for either our local Special Olympics programs of Hall County, or, the chairty of your choice! Our default charity is Special Olympics.

Entry includes a one hour practice after working hours at the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club in the week preceding the event. Teams will be coached by experienced dragon boat paddlers including some of the local athletes of the United States National Dragon Boat Team. All participants are encouraged to bring and use their own Personal Floatation Device as these are the hardest to clean between races.
LCKC provides a steersperson. Teams must bring your own drummer. Teams will compete in distances of 200 meter, 100 meter, and an optional 1,000 meter race in a looped course.
Award categories include: Highest Fund-Raising team, Best Costumed Drummer, the Adrian Williams Most Enthusiastic team, and race medals 1st through 3rd in categories such as; Educational, Municipal, Corporate, Community, and Open, when 3 or more teams are under that category. Plus, 1st through 3rd plus overall champion award based on the Dragon Final! Teams in the Open category must have at least four women plus a drummer.
The Overall Champion will also be awarded the traveling GHDBC award. This award is now named the 'William Scott Crain Overall Champion Award' in memory of the leader of the Hall County Special Olympics who lost his life battling complications of COVID-19 last year. We continue to honor his legacy through this event.
All types of groups are welcome – small and large corporations, fire departments and law enforcement, youth sports organizations, schools, churches, neighborhoods, etc.
