LGBTQ+ Playwright/Composer Application

Seeking teen LGBTQ+ playwrights, composers, and lyricists to work collaboratively with three musical theatre professionals to create a 40-minute musical that shows queer versions of familiar fairy tales to raise awareness about anxiety, depression, and trauma.  Artists will be paid a stipend for their work.

Writing Session Availability

The writing team will create the show between October 5 and November 23.  We will meet:
Saturdays @ 1 -3:30 PM
Tuesdays in November @ 6:30 - 8:30 PM
 
Please give us a general sense of your availability. Not everyone will be called for every meeting.

Performances

The show will be performed by a cast of LGBTQ+ teens at locations around the Twin Cities in February 2020. It will rehearse in January 2020.  Playwrights and composers are invited but not required to be a part of the performance. Actors will receive a stipend for performing.

Youth MOVE MN

Youth MOVE MN is a statewide organization that motivates others through voices of experience.  It advocates for youth with mental heatlh disorders having a voice in the systems that serve them. 
Its goals include:
  • Creating arts-based community events that raise awareness about mental health
  • Providing free trainings for youth in leadership, public speaking, and mental health
  • Building a group of youth storytellers who advocate for the inclusion of youth voice in decision-making
 
Youth MOVE MN is led by an advisory council of youth (ages 15 - 21).  They receive a stipend for their work.
