This interactive presentation will provide an overview of the neuroscience and practical applications of mindful parenting based on the work of Dr. Dan Siegel, Goldie Hawn, Dr. Shefali Tsabary and Susan Kaiser Greenland. Parents and caregivers will learn why mindfulness calms the brain and promotes reflective thinking rather than emotional reactivity. Attendees will learn about the importance of attuning to children in order to strengthen parent-child attachment. The speaker will demonstrate simple activities and exercises that can be interwoven with busy daily life in order to strengthen relationships with our children. There will be several opportunities to practice strategies and to experience the physiological impact on ourselves when we begin to practice the art and science of mindful parenting.
